City of Swansea Aquatics
City of Swansea Aquatics is a competitive swimming club, formed in 1919, and, with over 200 members, is one of the largest clubs in Wales. Our membership extends from novice to national swimmers. Affiliated to Swim Wales, Swansea Aquatics is a Performance Four ‘Dragon Mark’ accredited swimming club. Across eight squads, our swimmers progress from our junior skills academy entry level through to our performance squad of swimmers competing internationally for Wales and Great Britain. Led by our Head Coach, Joel Knight, our club structure is designed to cover the development, competitive and performance elements of the swimming programme. Over the last decade, Swansea Aquatics has grown rapidly in both size and scale and in our ambitions. Drawing from our expanding membership base, the club is developing a squad of very promising Age Group, Youth and Senior swimmers, with a number of Welsh and British Age Group record holders. We have consistently had swimmers selected each year for the Welsh teams.
The club benefits from a hugely experienced and successful professional structure of salaried and volunteer coaching staff. In 2015, we appointed our Head Coach Hayley Baker, who has coached with Swansea Aquatics since 2008 and has worked as part of both the Welsh and GB squads. Recently, Hayley has progressed on to become the Director of Swimming at the club, as she has moved to a more senior role, working with the Swansea University programme and already enjoying plenty of success there. Hayley has recently handed over to our newly employed Head Coach, Joel, who is both committed to growing the club and to establish it not only as the premier club in Wales but also cementing our place as one of the top competitive clubs in the UK competing in the Arena League.
