I started my swimming teaching at the Wales National pool in 2007 where I worked for 11 years. I gained my Level 1 for Teaching swimming in 2007 and my Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification in 2009, along with a Level 2 in Fitness Instructing in the context of Water Based Excercise ( Aquasize and circuits. ). I gained my level 1 in Coaching Water Polo in 2010 as well as my Adult and Child qualification.

I began teaching with Swansea Aquatics in 2007 back when it was Swim Swansea. I was a volunteer for 4 years helping and teaching with the entry level squads for about 5 hours a week under the watchful eye of Karen Cheval. I gained my Level 1 in Coaching Swimming in 2010.

In 2011 I was successful in becoming the Skills Coach for Skills 1,2 and 3. I was responsible for about 75 swimmers across these 3 squads and was teaching/coaching them the correct technique and fundamental skills to enable them to progress through the programme effectively.

I started my Level 2 for Coaching Swimming qualification in 2011 which was held in Manchester and gained this qualification in March 2012.

When the club became Swansea Aquatics we underwent a restructure of the squads. The Academy squads replaced the skills squads so I was then the Academy coach for the Bronze and Silver squads and was responsible for up to 60 swimmers across these squads. The teaching and coaching focus remained the same , to teach the correct technique and fundamental skills to enable the swimmers to progress through the programme effectively.

I took a break from coaching with Swansea Aquatics during the 2020 covid lockdown until March 2024 when I returned to the club to take the Rising Stars squad. I also now take Junior Development for 2 of their sessions a week.

I taught at Penyrheol pool with the evening and Saturday lesson programme from 2018 until I finished with them in 2022.

 

I teach with the schools swimming programme during the day in term time and have been in this role since 2018.

I also teach a couple of nights a week during term time for a private Swim school based at the Gateway Resort and have been with this Swim school since 2013.
